Our exciting tour begins with a visit to Kanoni. A short photo stop will be made to capture some beautiful photos of the convent of Vlacherna and Mouse Island, the landmark of Corfu.
Our next stop is the Old Town of Corfu, the island’s capital. Here, guests will have the opportunity to view the Old Town’s most important sites, inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List as a fortified Mediterranean port town of high integrity and authenticity. During the guided walking tour, you will admire the Old Fortress, the Esplanade—the biggest square in Greece—the Palace, the Old Town Hall, the Catholic Cathedral, the narrow streets, and Saint Spyridon Church. The heart of the town contains a labyrinth of small alleyways crisscrossing larger, bustling streets abound with typical old craftsmen’s workshops giving a Venetian air.
Then we continue onto Paleokastritsa, the most famous beauty spot of Corfu, free time to visit the reverent monastery, at the edge of a lush green mountain overlooking the sea, where visitors are welcome inside to view the famous ceiling carving of the ‘Tree of Life’. With its stunning rugged coastline and crystal blue sea, Paleokastritsa is home to six public beaches, and many sea caves which can be visited by small boats.
Our journey continues with a scenic drive high up the mountainside to the quaint village of Lakones, where from the viewpoint of Bella Vista, which Lawrence Durrell described as the most beautiful view in the Mediterranean, we can admire a fine birds-eye view of Paleokastritsa. In this idyllic setting, guests may enjoy a typical lunch in a traditional taverna. (optional).
Continuing our tour through the Troumbeta Pass, we can enjoy spectacular views of the island’s north and center. We will then approach the north coastline and visit the picturesque port of Kassiopi. After some free time, we will return to the northeast coastline road to our starting point.
